CBD for Skin Care

What is CBD?

You might already know about CBD in the context of the marijuana plant. It’s true that cannabis does contain CBD, but CBD is not the compound that makes people high. (That would be THC.) CBD can be separated from THC to produce several benefits on its own.

It’s also important to note that the type of CBD that’s legal in all 50 states is the kind that comes from the hemp plant. Hemp may be a cousin of marijuana, but it’s not the same thing, and its THC compound is minimal compared to the marijuana plant.

As a matter of fact, in the US, legal CBD can’t contain more than 0.3% THC. In other words, you won’t get high from using CBD in your skin care routine.

Hemp Extract works because we have a special chemical receptor system in our bodies. This receptor system is responsible for our homeostasis and is involved in regulating things such as appetite, pain sensation, memory and mood.

CBD may have several skin care benefits thanks to these anti-inflammatory properties. For example, one study showed these anti-inflammatory properties working to fight acne. The same study observed CBD reducing sebum, or acne-causing oil, as well.

There are actually receptors all over our body in our brain, stomach, nervous system, and organs that have cell receptors for the chemicals. By using Hemp extract infused supplements, we can help jump start this system to help with pain, inflammation, stress and sleep.

CBD Benefits & What makes CBD so popular?

What makes CBD so popular, and why is it being studied for so many benefits? It all comes down to something called the endocannabinoid system, or the ECS. You have a lot of systems in your body, such as the nervous system and the lymphatic system. You probably didn’t learn about the ECS in your high school biology class, but it still has a profound impact on the body.

The human body naturally produces something called endocannabinoids, which work a lot like other cannabinoids such as CBD. These endocannabinoids interact with endocannabinoid receptors to maintain normal bodily processes.

Interestingly, it turns out that humans have some of these receptors in their skin. UCLA pointed this out in a web page about cannabis: “Research initially suggested endocannabinoid receptors were only present in the brain and nerves,” explains the source from the UCLA School of Medicine.

Because some of this ECS interaction occurs in the skin, it has become a topic of interest for CBD skin care product creators.

More time and research will reveal the specific benefits of CBD in skin care, but as of right now, much of the research centers specifically around inflammation. Many people take CBD and use CBD skin care products because of CBD’s anti-inflammatory properties.

How to make sure if the CBD is working

CBD is not a see-all, end-all, cure-all type of product – meaning you can’t just take CBD whenever you feel the need to expecting all your problems to vanish. Consistency is key and it through this consistency that you’ll truly know if it helps or not.

Hemp extract is one of the most well known of about 100 different phytochemicals found in the hemp plant. It is non-psychoactive, meaning it will not get you high. Hemp extract is similar to a compound that our bodies produce naturally. Not only are these chemicals found in the hemp plant, they’re also naturally occurring throughout nature in broccoli, kale, etc.

Hemp extract is a multi-functional ingredient. For our body products, we focus on Hemp extract’s anti-inflammatory, muscle soothing and pain reducing benefits. For face care, we focus on Hemp extract’s antioxidant, nutritive, anti-inflammatory and skin balancing properties and we create formulations using freshly extracted herbs that magnify these benefits.

Hemp Extract works because we have a special chemical receptor system in our bodies. There are actually receptors all over our body in our brain, stomach, nervous system, and organs that have cell receptors for the chemicals. Inflammation is the culprit for many skin issues. Studies show Hemp extract to have anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant properties, which is great for the skin, joints and muscles. Our full-spectrum Hemp extract oil is also naturally filled with vitamins A, D, and E and contains high levels of essential fatty acids (omega 3 and 6), which all work to enhance skin health and overall youthfulness.

The array of chemicals and other natural constituents found in full-spectrum hemp oil have been shown in studies to work together to magnify their therapeutic properties (this is often referred to as the “entourage effect”) The complex mix of chemicals, essential nutrients, protein, and healthy fats work synergistically to encourage homeostasis and balance in our health.

Our hemp extract is naturally rich in active proteins, as well as terpenes, flavonoids, and essential amino acids.

Cannabinoidsare the chemical compounds found in both cannabis and hemp plants. Out of the 100+ active cannabinoids in either plant, only of them is psychoactive – THC.

Yes! Hemp-derived CBD is legal in all 50 states, provided that it contains less than 0.03% THC content. Our CBD products meet the standards of US federal laws.

Scientifically speaking, CBD as a compound is non-psychoactive – so it is impossible to get high off CBD-infused products. If your CBD-product contains THC, which is a psychoactive compound, chances are you will.

While our CBD products contain 0.00% THC, it really comes down to how you are being drug tested. For example, a urine test might not catch nearly undetectable levels of THC whereas a hair sample might. We recommend that if you work in an environment where you may be subject to random drug tests, please consult with your employer about the products you decide to consume

Not quite. Hemp seed oil is the oil from crushed hemp seeds, and it may or may not contain CBD. Our CBD products come from the entire hemp plant, not just the seeds. Our skin care products also include other skin-moisturizing ingredients, like shea butter and aloe.

While a lot of people do use CBD – including topical CBD – for pain relief, the concentration of CBD in our skin care line isn’t geared toward pain relief.
